+ Middle School Teacher

Portfolio currently serves students from K-5, and is adding a grade each year to ultimately comprise K-12.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and prepare curriculum, appropriate to the needs, interests, experience and existing knowledge of your students;
  • Play a full part in curriculum development work undertaking key tasks and responsibilities as agreed within the team of teachers.
  • Build and maintain cooperative relationships with parents, and to communicate with them on student learning and progress, drawing attention to special skills and talents as well as to problems or difficulties.
  • Maintain an attractive, stimulating learning environment; to contribute to displays in the school as a whole.
  • Keep up-to-date with current educational thinking and practice, both by study and by attendance at courses, PD sessions and workshops, reading books, articles, etc.
  • Organize displays of children’s work to show recognition and affirmation to the children themselves, and in this way provide stimulus and ideas for colleagues and information for parents.
  • Participate in periodic reviews of student and class performance in order to monitor progression and determine future priorities
  • Work with curriculum leaders to ensure that there is continuity across student groups.

EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years experience teaching at the Middle School level.
  • Experience working in an interdisciplinary project-based environment desired.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, open environment valued.
  • Experience developing middle school curriculum desired.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree in related field preferred.

+ Curriculum Development & Implementation Specialist

Start: August 12, 2019

Portfolio currently serves students from K-5, and is adding a grade each year to ultimately comprise K-12. This position reports to the Head of School, and collaborates closely with the Founding Director of Research and Learning Design, and with our faculty. We are open to having this position be either full-time or part-time, depending on our evolving needs.

  • Assist in implementing core skill trajectories at every level and help us ensure they are being taught effectively.
  • Help write our scope and sequence, and document our curriculum.
  • Build and maintain cooperative relationships with parents.
  • Keep up-to-date with current educational thinking and practice, both by study and by attendance at courses, PD sessions and workshops, etc.
  • Coordinate closely with our Founding Director of Research and Learning Design.

EXPERIENCE

  • Significant leadership and teaching experience at the Lower and/or Middle School level.
  • Experience working in an interdisciplinary project-based environment.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, open environment.
  • Experience developing, implementing and documenting innovative curriculum.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree in related field strongly preferred.
