Aviva Dunsiger is just finishing her fifteenth year teaching for the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. She’s taught every grade from Kindergarten to Grade 6 in some capacity. In 2013, she was recognized as one of the recipients of the Prime Minister’s Award For Teaching Excellence.
Aviva is very passionate about play-based learning, inquiry-based learning, self-regulation, special education, and differentiated instruction. She currently works for The MEHRIT Centre as the moderator for Portal Plus and contributes a monthly blog post on self-regulation. She finished Foundations 1 through The MEHRIT Centre, and applies a lot of her thinking and learning from these courses to her daily practises at school.
Aviva is actively involved on social media, and loves to learn and share about various topics connected to education. She tweets prolifically (@avivaloca), shares Instagram photographs and videos connected to classroom happenings (@avivaloca), and blogs regularly on a variety of professional topics (https://adunsiger.com). She is constantly reflecting on her practises and looking at more, and better, ways that she can meet the needs of students.
