Building 10x Solutions (an event by Team Exponent)

The problems of today and tomorrow are not solvable with yesterday’s mindset. What we need are creative and impactful solutions – 10x solutions, not incremental ones.

Team Exponent, in partnership with Portfolio School, is conducting an exclusive Building 10x Solutions session for kids between the ages of 8-13 years old.

This special event provides an opportunity for kids to experience what it’s really like to be a part of a high-impact team and solve for major challenges facing humanity. Kids will walk away with a new set of tools to harness their ideas, creatively solve problems and believe in their own potential.

“Most Likely to Succeed”

Movie screening & discussion

Most Likely To Succeed is the best film ever done on the topic of school—both its past and its future. The film inspires you with a sense of purpose and possibility, and is bringing school communities together in re-imagining what our students and teachers are capable of doing. After seeing this film, you’ll never look at school the same way again.

Scott Swaaley, one of the High Tech High teachers featured in the movie, will be joining us at the end for a Skype Q&A.

EDxEDNYC 2016 Conference: “The Nuts & Bolts of Project-Based Learning”

A discussion led by Shira and Nancy.

Whether you are new to Project-Based Learning (PBL), or have experience in PBL design and implementation, this session will support you in delving into the PBL design process, supporting you to create an engaging Project-Based Learning unit for your students.

This session will engage teachers as Project-Based Learning Designers, beginning with an overview of “gold standard” design elements, and then engaging in interactive learning activities, followed by time to work with partners to draft a unit, section by section. Appropriate for teachers with any skill level in Project-Based Learning, from beginner to advanced, we will immerse ourselves in the possibilities for Project-Based Learning, stretching our thinking and planning ways of implementing more Project-Based Learning into our teaching than we currently do, whether this is a brand new approach or an approach with which you already have experience.
